Panasonic makes the best residential air conditioners, bar none. They are powerful, cool down quickly, and are very quiet. And they are energy efficient, too. The 9800 BTU really beats a lot of 12,000 BTU (non-Panasonic) models out there. This is also relatively easy to install. I also have a few other Panasonic units with different BTUs and they are all star performers. The oldest model (a 10,000 unit) has made steamy New York summers bearable since 1999. I've had this for a year now, and it works great. Very quiet and really cools off the kitchen well. On low fan speed, the refrigerator is noisier than the air conditioner. I also got a lower power one for the bedroom. The timer function is great for coming home to a cool house.Customer Review: one star for each week it worked quiet

I gave it five stars at the first week it worked, and now give one star for each week it worked quiet. Yes. it sounds like a school bus now. I'll never buy an airconditioner from Panasonic again.
