Customer Review: great while it works, but short lifespan Summary: 2 Stars
I loved my microwave, until it went out on me. I am anal when it comes to keeping my microwave clean, so mine is spotless, in fact, it still looks brand new. I had mine for 3 years when the inverters went out. When I contacted a Panasonic repair company, I was informed it would cost $90 to even look at. Then, I was told by another repairman that to replace the inverters it would cost more than I had paid for it new! My first microwave lasted from '78 til 2003. It is BS that after a mere 3 years I have to buy a new microwave. I will not buy another panasonic or even one with inverters in it. Not everyone has the luxury of buying new appliances every couple of years, nor should we have to. I expect my well-taken care of appliances to last for a lot longer. I do not recommend a panasonic microwave, especially one with inverters to anyone that doesn't want to replace it within a few years.
Customer Review: Great...then it up and died Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this to replace a Panasonic microwave I had for about 10 years. The old one still worked, but I wanted the stainless steel look to match my other updated appliances. The dial took some getting used to, but in the end is more convenient than punching in a time. The display seems a little dim if you look at it from anything other than straight on. The unit worked great until about two weeks ago (about 16 months of ownership). I was just heating some soup for lunch and heard it shut off...no beeps indicating "done". I thought maybe I had tripped a breaker- nope. The unit just plain died. Of course I had just sold the old Panasonic at a garage sale about two months ago. Not sure I'd buy another Panasonic after my experience with this one.
Customer Review: Not what it's cracked up to be! Summary: 2 Stars
This unit went back after 3 days of use. I tried to defrost 2 oz. of chicken breast and the inside fogged up so bad I didn't think it was venting properly. I also didn't like the lack of light when opening the oven or the difficult to read/use panel. It's nearly impossible to simply set a time for defrosting - the oven wants to weigh and measure and decide for itself. The panel was so difficult to read that I had to use a flashlight in order to program the microwave. All in all, not a very convenient appliance.
I was replacing a 26 year old Panasonic which was just getting tired but it has been returned to my counter until I can find something that offers more and better features than what I already have.
Customer Review: Great till it died (3 mo) Summary: 2 Stars
I really liked this microwave, up until it suddenly when code blue (alright, code H98).
After exactly 3 months it suddenly displayed H98 in the screen and stopped working altogether, except for the clock. I looked up the code on the web, and it seems the problem is the magnatron and/or the inverter. Not something I want to mess with. Fortunately the retailer from whom I bought it took it back.
I had bought it despite other reviews like this one and decided to try my luck with the purchase. I would not recommend anyone else do the same; you will likely be disappointed.
