This is the 2nd one of these that we purchased, thinking that it was a fluke that the 1st one died after 2 years. Nope - this one is just about 2 years old and after working fine yesterday morning, I came home to a completely dead microwave last night. I love the style, design - and give it two stars only because the performance of the unit, when it works, is fantastic. This little microwave really packs a lot of power, it fits nicely under my cabinet and has a sleek, modern design. I love the Turbo Defrost feature, and the quick minute timer. But after owning two of the same model, I will not be buying this model again. Hubby and I are wondering if there is a computer chip embedded in there somewhere that shuts this brand down after 2+ years! This microwave was purchased from a local retailer in 2010.
Pros: Design and even cooking feature. Price.
Cons: The push button open feature was hard to operate. When trying to open the microwave, the push button feature would cause the microwave to slide back on the countertop. User has to push really hard to release the door. Also, the recessed buttons do not work properly. You have to place your fingers in exactly the right spot in order to trigger the scensors on the buttons.

This unit cooks fast and defrost quite evenly, which is what it was bought for. The poor display that is barely usable unless your eyes are even with it is a joke. Also, the oven light only works while the oven is running, not when you open the door. It looks like the engineer of this unit has never used a microwave before. Luckily I sold the house and the buyer asked that I include it in the sale. Guess how long it took to decide if I wanted to part with my almost new microwave? Our trusty Sharp Carousel microwave finally bite the dust. We purchased the Panasonic Inverter at Target on a Monday, returned it on Tuesday. The primary reason for the return was that the oven did not have a light when the door was open. The light came on only after START was engaged. I need a light when the door is open! The second problem: The audible signal could not be disabled. I guess we were spoiled by the Sharp and accustomed to its features. I bought this to replace a similar product. The microwave I replaced was only three years old, but it fit in the space so I bought another one. The latch on the door sticks and doesn't open easily. It takes two hands to open the door. Because of the size it's too much trouble to send back. I would have bought it locally if I could have found one. This is the first time I've had trouble with a product purchased from Amazon. I would recommend Panasonic, but buy local.
