Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Panasonic NN-T695SF Family-Size 1.2-Cubic-Foot 1,300-Watt Microwave Oven, StainlessCustomer Review: Easy, Efficient, Inexpensive Summary: 5 Stars
It's wonderful. Boiling water or reheating food dishes -- the two things I use a microwave for -- it's a two-button operation: "sensor reheat" and then "start". The automatic sensor turns the machine off when it's done. The oven features a variable-power emitter, so food is heated evenly without undue use of power.
Every other microwave over I've had has "power settings", but really those other ovens are either "completely on" or "off", just cycling the emitter on and off while keeping the fan and turntable going. You could drive your car that way, but it would be hard to park without denting a fender. And the cooking results for other ovens can likewise be less than precise.
In contrast, THIS is a microwave with cruise control. Panasonic's microwaves recently gained top marks in a prominent conumer product test. The stainless-steel exterior finish rivals ovens costing 3-5 times as much. The door, latch, and release all have a solid feel to them. Amazon had a promotional rebate at the time so I got the oven for a bit over $100. You can't do better than that.
Description of Panasonic NN-T695SF Family-Size 1.2-Cubic-Foot 1,300-Watt Microwave Oven, StainlessPanasonic NN-T695SF family-size 1.2 cu.ft. 1300 Watt, Easy-To-Use Pop-Out Dial, Elegant Design with Reflective Door, Multi-Lingual Menu Action Screen, One-Touch Sensor Cooking (9 Categories), One-Touch Sensor Reheat, Inverter Turbo Defrost, Keep Warm, Popcorn Key, Quick Minute, More/Less Control (Stainless) This average-sized microwave oven is perfect for reheating leftovers, defrosting meats or vegetables, or even cooking a main dish for the family. The oven measures 20-3/8 by 11-7/8 by 15-15/16 inches but is still fairly compact considering that much of that space can be attributed to the 1.2-cubic-foot interior. The oven operates on a powerful 1,300 watts for quicker cooking and defrosting and an attractive stainless-steel front and reflective door that looks appropriate in a professional-style kitchen. A few improvements and conveniences move this fairly basic microwave up to the front of the pack. As part of Panasonic's Inverter Technology, the oven incorporates a linear power control for even heat distribution so frozen macaroni and cheese doesn't get hot around the perimeter and remain cold in the center during cooking and frozen chicken breasts don't cook around the edges during defrosting. An automatic reheat button gets leftovers tasting as delicious as when they were first prepared and a quick minute feature adds another minute on to give food a little extra cooking time. Another major innovation is a warming and simmering feature that delivers low-temperature heat to keep food such as pies, casseroles, or gravy warm without overcooking them. And, popcorn addicts will love the special button just for cooking microwave popcorn to perfection. This microwave oven is covered by Panasonic under a one-year limited warranty while the Magnetron tube has an extended warranty of up to five years. --Cristina Vaamonde
