Customer Review: excellent fuzzy logic rice cooker
Summary: 5 Stars

Having had to make do with the old school on/off rice cookers during college, I was getting fed-up with the burnt rice and difficulty cleaning the pot (because of said burnt rice). Also I was looking for a slow cooker and steamer, and this rice cooker pretty much came with everything i asked for!

pros:
1. cheapest reputable (i.e. japanese/korean) brand fuzzy logic rice cooker on the market. Sanyo had a slightly cheaper one going at $65, but I was dubious about the complaints regarding lead on the power cord. Also i believe the sanyo didn't have the slow cooker function.
2. makes excellent rice! this is fuzzy logic, so it takes twice the time (around an hour), but with the timer, I'm more than happy to set it and go do other things, and come back to excellent rice. I cook mainly japanese short grain, and this does an excellent job. I recently tried cooking rice with vegetables in the cooker, and that came out beautifully too. Pretty much the usual fuzzy logic standard of rice you're used to if you're asian like I am =)
3. has a timer, slow cooker, and steamer function. Also does brown rice.
4. good size for a one person apartment.
5. heaven to clean - the non stick pot and perfect rice make it really really easy to clean that pot.

cons:
1. the manual states that when steaming food you're not supposed to be cooking other things. I think it might be possible to cook a little plain rice and steam a small piece of fish on top, but have yet to try it.
2. no actual clock function, just a timer, but still better than nothing.
3. slightly more items to clean - i.e. there's the pot, and the little inner lid thing you'll have to wash. But like i mentioned earlier, the fact that it's non-stick and that it doesn't burn the rice means it's really just a matter of rinsing in soapy water.

Overall, i recommend this if you're looking for a fuzzy logic cooker, but not willing to break the bank for a zojirushi (i love those, just dammit, why so expensive?!).

Customer Review: Amazing.
Summary: 5 Stars

Like many people, I wondered if a rice cooker if necessary. The answer is yes, yes, and yes again.

This cooker may be a tad expensive, but it is a worthy investment. I've made Jasmine and brown rice in it multiple times, and it always comes out perfect. It also makes oatsmeal like a champ. Throw in some oats (I use steel-cut), water, and some spices, wait an hour or so, and bam: perfect, wonderful oatsmeal. According to the manual, it can also make cake?! I haven't tried that one yet, though.

The timer is also very useful. You can have rice waiting for you when you come back from work, or wake up to fresh oatmeal. It doesn't have a start or stop time, which would be the most useful, but you just input how many hours from now you want the cooker to turn on. So a little bit of math is needed, but nothing too fancy.

After the rice/oatsmeal/whatever is done cooking, it automatically switches over to keep warm. Very handy.

It also comes with a basket for steaming vegetables, a ladle, and a rice measurer. The directions in the manual are good, except that I add less water when making oatsmeal than the manual recommends.

In short, this rice cooker is amazing. 5/5.

Customer Review: Really Great!

My first inclination when my fiance said he wanted a nice rice cooker with fuzzy logic like this was to ask, "what the heck does anyone need with a $90 rice cooker?!"
Well, having this has really changed my mind. The rice is perfect. Every time. Got some stuff to add in to the rice? Fine, dump it in at the beginning. The cooker still cooks it perfectly. Spanish rice? No problem. Just put a can of V8, some salsa, and some butter in, fill to the line with water the rest of the way, and press 'start.' Rice to go with Indonesian, Thai, or Indian food? Put in some Turmeric and Coriander and there it is, fragrant and inviting. Brown rice, long grain, jasmine or basmati, it figures out exactly what to do. It also steams vegetables and other things. It does all the thinking for you about how long to cook it.
Oh yes, and cleanup? A snap. If you just cook rice, just rinse out the bowl. It's got a really nice, high-quality teflon bowl so the scraps come out like *that*. Cooked something more complicated? The bowl is also top-shelf dishwasher safe. So easy.
Perfect rice, every time. I love my new rice cooker.

Customer Review: Best rice ever, from the worst cook on the planet.
Summary: 5 Stars

I admit it, I suck at cooking. I can burn water and undercook kool-aid. Fortunately, my husband and I have very simple tastes, we love steamed veggies and rice. I'd been using a basic $20 cooker but it spits up and makes a mess of my counters and the results are erratic, sometimes the rice is decent, sometimes it's dry.

We were eating at a friends house, and I commented on her perfect rice, she said "It's not me, it's Fuzzy Logic" and I thought she had some mental disorder that allowed her to create heavenly rice. After a bit more research I figured out what she was talking about. I wasn't really ready to pony up the cash just to cook rice, but the our cheap cooker died so I decided to give it a shot.

Boy, am I glad I did! I can now proudly serve perfect rice, even if everything else is under or over-done and unpalatable, at least the rice is great.

Now if they'd just make a Fuzzy Logic dinner creator, I'd be set.

Customer Review: Great Fuzzy Logic Rice Cooker
Summary: 5 Stars

My latest "kick" is rice cookers. I love "bowl food" and I learned I can cook one pot, delicious, interesting, and even healthy meals using rice cookers. You can pay lots more for a fuzzy logic rice cooker but this little baby works perfectly. I'm also making steel cut oats Porridge in it so it isn't just for rice. The very tasty Rice Select (Texmati varieties) come out perfectly in it too. Fuzzy Logic to me means it's basically very hard to make a bad meal. Only negative I can see is this rice cooker is a 5.5 cup capacity. If you have a large large family you might need one with a higher capacity but this one makes lots of rice. I also bought an 8-cup On/Off/Warm Aroma ricer maker from Amazon and am very happy with that brand too. There's a Cajun rice cook book on Amazon whose recipes work best in the On/Off/Warm rice cooker.
