Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Panasonic SR-G18FG 10-Cup (Uncooked) Rice Cooker/Steamer

Customer Review: Not for every day rice cooking
Summary: 1 Stars

For the first two months, this rice cooker was just everything I had asked for. But after two months, the water started to drip from all corners of the rice cooker.... I first thought I was putting high amounts of water/ or may be the rice isn't good. I changed everything and its still working same way.

Before returning it I thought I should try contacting Panasonic customer service and guess what....I was kept on hold for more than 30 minutes and then the customer rep says...its the amount of water thats causing the leak...I told him that I put 1.5 glasses of water per glass of rice...he says I should reduce it to 1 glass of water....this is absurd....I should as well eat raw rice...

I am from Asia and therefore rice is our staple food. I have had Black and decker and salton rice cookers before...and never had any problems what so ever....the only reason for buying this panasonic rice cooker is that my previous rice cookers are not non stick....Well...I am going to return this one and buy some thing else...
I found a similar non stick rice cooker (Hamilton Beach) in Kohls and I am going to buy it...

Customer Review: Doesn't work with brown rice
Summary: 1 Stars

I have tried 4 times to cook brown rice. I feel like Goldilocks; too crunchy, a little crunchy & all mush. When I increased the amount of water, there was a very starchy mess leaking all over my countertop. Not what I expected at all. I haven't tried white rice. Perhaps that will work, but not the reason I purchased this cooker. As soon as I locate the receipt, it is being returned.

Customer Review: Terrible!
Summary: 1 Stars

Every time I've tried to cook rice in this thing, it boils over several times, makes a huge mess on the counter, and makes poor rice. I've only tried this with standard white rice, but it's always a little crunchy, and the boiling over is ridiculous. I tried every troubleshooting suggestion in the instruction manual, but nothing worked. Now I'm saving up for a Zojirushi.

Customer Review: very bad quality
Summary: 1 Stars

I did not like it one bit . I tried making rice using the water ratio differently each time and it still did not give the proper texture. Either it was too dry or too mushy. I own a panasonic rice cooker which works perfectly just that the container has lost its nonstick coating. Wass hoping ot replace it but i guess I'll have to look elsewhere this didnot work for me
