We have had the older model (National SRMM10N) since 2001 and it's still kicking. I have used it to steam foods and make porridge too. We usually use the "quick" function to make rice so that it's done faster (20 min or so).
After years of abuse the inside pot has been retired...I just ordered the replacement part from Panasonic: http://www.pstc.panasonic.com/EpartR/PartsListChoice.asp and it arrived in 4 working days. I guess you're not supposed to use metal on this non-stick surface, but sometimes we get lazy or forget. The part number for anyone else who needs one for this older model is ARE50M592A.
I debated on buying a new rice cooker vs. getting a new inside pot and thought that it would be a waste to toss a rice cooker that still works great for that reason. Let's see how long this baby really lasts!
Customer Review: Great Rice Cooker for a Smaller Family

We are very pleased with the performance of this rice cooker. We bought it to replace an old Hitachi cooker that served us well, but was a bear to clean because of lack of a nonstick surface. We also wanted the ability to cook brown rice easily. The Panasonic cleans up beautifully and cooks both white and brown rice to perfection. A cool feature is the cooking time countdown, where the LCD display shows the remaining cooking time. Brown rice cooking time is 2 hours, and the countdown doesn't begin until 13 minutes is left. We thought this a little strange, but it's designed that way and it's stated as such in the manual.
A fine rice cooker - We have no problem recommending it to others with a family of 2-4.

I've owned a few rice cookers in the past, but this one is by far my favorite. (Keep in mind that I've only used it to cook Jasmine rice so far). The rice turns out perfect every time. I've kept rice warm for as long as 25 hours in the unit and even at 25 hours (although the rice is a bit dryer than freshly cooked); it was still quite good considering the amount of time it was kept warm. The non-stick coating makes it a breeze to clean and the collected steam water is pure water! I was very surprised considering my previous unit's collect water was a bit messy as it contained remnants of rice starch.Customer Review: Works great. Read the manual.

Works great, just like everyone has said. One heads-up: the lithium battery that keeps the clock running is not supposed to be replaceable by customer, the instructions say to take it to the authorized service facility.
I hope that battery lasts a long, long time. I'm not at all for spending a couple of dozen dollars for some $2 dollar battery by having to send it off somewhere and having to pay for some technician to unscrew a couple of screws. Hopefully it won't be hard to DIY.

The Panasonic SR-NA10 is a fantastic appliance for preparing rice. We've used several different rice cookers in the past, but none have been as versatile as this unit. Very easy to use interface, great non-stick rice pan, easy to clean, and the easy to read countdown timer allows you time everything getting to the table together.
As for food quality, let me summarize like this: Our children both now love brown rice.
